NEMCC makes changes to Presidential Scholarship eligibility
Students with an ACT score of 28 or higher, now qualify for the prestigious Presidential Scholarship
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (03/16/2026) — Beginning this fall, students attending Northeast Mississippi Community College can now earn a Presidential Scholarship with an ACT score of 28 or higher.
Recently, college officials approved the change to the Presidential Scholarship eligibility requirements to include students scoring 28 or higher on the ACT. That award, which includes full semester tuition, room and board, is renewable each semester a student is enrolled provided a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) is maintained. Awarded for four semesters, the total estimated value of the scholarship is $18,000 to $20,000.
"Our students are the lifeblood of the college and the reason we have such a passion for what we do here," President Ricky G. Ford explained, "so we are always looking for new and creative ways to make their Northeast experience more rewarding."
Previously, students enrolling with an ACT score of 30 or higher received the Presidential Scholarship, while scholarship recipients with ACT scores of 24 to 29 claimed the Vice Presidential Scholarship, which included full tuition for each semester enrolled, provided the student maintained a 3.0 grade point average (GPA).
Students with an ACT score of 24 to 27 are now awarded the Vice Presidential Scholarship.
Only full-time students (minimum 15 semester hours) are eligible for these scholarship awards.
