NEMCC inducts Danielle Porterfield into Phi Theta Kappa honor society

Northeast Mississippi Community College sophomore Easton Hall of New Albany signs the Book of Oath while Ana Isabel Herrera-Makepeace of Red Bay, Alabama waits her turn to sign the book during the fall 2013 Phi Theta Kappa Induction Ceremony held on Tuesday, October 1 in the Hines Hall Auditorium on the Booneville campus. Approximately 50 new members joined the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society during the organization's fall induction ceremony and were led in the chapter pledge under the guidance of chapter president Jake Hall of Belmont, signed the Book of Oath and were awarded a certificate of membership. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society composed of 1,100 chapters at colleges in the United States and Canada. International headquarters for the organization is located in Jackson, Miss. Phi Theta Kappa seeks to foster the development of leadership and service, to provide an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas, and to encourage the establishment of scholarships for advanced education. Northeast's Iota Zeta chapter has been recognized as a "Five Star" chapter, the highest rating given any chapter, and has been recognized as an exemplary model.
