NEMCC Art Department to host annual student art show April 9-30
Opening Night and Reception set for Thursday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m.
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (03/31/2026) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Art Department will present its annual Northeast Student Art Show from April 9 through April 30 in the Anderson Hall Art Gallery on the Booneville campus.
Located on the first floor of Anderson Hall, the Art Gallery will feature a wide range of student artwork, highlighting the achievements of Northeast's art students in various media.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Admission to the Northeast Art Gallery is free.
Festivities begin Thursday, April 9, at 5 p.m. with the Student Art Awards Program in the Anderson Hall Auditorium.
Each studio class will be represented in the show: Drawing, Design, Photography, Painting, Ceramics, Figure Drawing, 3-D Design and Digital Art.
Judging will include first, second and third place selections along with honorable mentions in each category and the Best of Show selection.
Students also have the chance to receive awards and scholarships through the Northeast Development Foundation and Alumni Association. Some of the art awards that are given by the Foundation include the Helen Jones Art Achievement Award, Brenda Yancey-Moss Most Improved Student Award, and two Yancey-Moss Visual Arts Scholarships.
One student will receive the Mississippi Painter's Society Award, which includes a scholarship and is presented every other year through representatives from the Mississippi Painter's Society.
All awards will include a plaque and a scholarship.
Additionally, students will be recognized for their achievements during the Honors Day Program on April 16.
Following the awards ceremony, the Art Gallery will open for a special Show Opening and Reception from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Guests are invited to view the exhibition and meet the student artists whose work will be on display throughout the month.
