NEMCC DIESEL MECHANICS GRADUATES REGOCNIZED

Booneville, MS (05/17/2023) — Booneville, MS- Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) is proud to announce the remarkable achievements of six students who recently completed their associate's degree in Diesel Mechanics as well as obtained their Commercial Class A Driver's License (CDL) through the NEMCC Truck Driving Program. This dual accomplishment highlights these individuals' dedication and hard work in pursuing their career goals in the Transportation industry.

Under the guidance of esteemed instructors, the NEMCC Diesel Mechanics program has provided a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience, equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the field. The NEMCC Truck Driving Program has further enhanced their training, enabling them to excel in both mechanical expertise and commercial driving.

NEMCC President Dr. Ricky Ford expressed his enthusiasm for the students' achievements.

"We are immensely proud of the six students who have completed their associate's degree in Diesel Mechanics and obtained their class A CDL. This dual accomplishment is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the exceptional training provided by our instructors."

The Diesel Mechanics program, led by experienced instructor Jonathan Alexander, has been instrumental in shaping the students' skills and preparing them for the industry's challenges.

"It is gratifying to witness our students' growth and success. Through our program, we aim to cultivate a strong foundation of technical knowledge and practical experience. These six individuals have surpassed our expectations, and we are confident they will significantly impact the diesel mechanics profession."

Furthermore, Martin Arnold, the Truck Driving Instructor at NEMCC, expressed his satisfaction with the student's achievements.

"The NEMCC Truck Driving Program complements the Diesel Mechanics curriculum. By obtaining their CDL, these students have expanded their career prospects and gained a competitive edge in the industry. We congratulate them on their accomplishment and wish them continued success."

NEMCC Vice President of Instruction Michelle Baragona emphasized the significance of this achievement.

"Northeast Mississippi Community College takes great pride in being the first community college in the state to have students complete the Diesel Mechanics program and obtain their Class A CDL. This accomplishment exemplifies our commitment to providing comprehensive education and empowering our students with the skills they need to excel in their chosen fields."

NEMCC Career Technical Counselor Carrie Cobb has been so excited to see the hard work she and Alexandar put into place.

"Students now have the chance to test drive customer vehicles and confirm complaints and fixes. This valuable experience makes them highly desirable to employers. By developing dual skill sets, students have a backup plan to support their families if one path doesn't work out."

The combination of the Diesel Mechanics and Truck Driving programs at NEMCC has proven to be a winning formula, producing skilled professionals capable of excelling in multiple facets of the automotive industry. As the demand for qualified diesel mechanics continues to grow, these graduates are well-positioned to impact and contribute to the regional workforce significantly.

Campus Labs recently named Northeast as one of two educational institutions in the nation as a Campus Labs Trailblazer Award honoree. The Campus Labs Trailblazer Award is based on the college creating a culture of assessment on campus through Campus Labs Planning to increase institutional adoption, focus on continuous improvement, and closing the loop in the institutional assessment priorities.
