NEMCC SGA brings holiday cheer to hospice patients with 2024 service project

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (10/23/2024) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Student Government Association (SGA) is dedicating its 2024 Service Project to brightening the holiday season for those at the end of their lives.

Through a collaboration with the hospice unit at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, the Student Government Association aims to deliver comfort and holiday cheer to patients in need.

Northeast's Student Government Association is accepting donations through November 21 in the form of snacks and small meal items to create care packages that will be distributed to hospice patients this holiday season.

Community members and students alike are encouraged to contribute items such as cheese crackers, chips, fruit cups, macaroni and cheese, nabs, popcorn, pop tarts, small microwaveable meals, snack cakes, and Vienna sausages.

Donations can be dropped off in the Student Activities Office, located in the Haney Union on the Booneville campus. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays.

Northeast's SGA hopes to gather a substantial collection of items to ensure each patient has a memorable holiday experience.

By contributing to the project, organizers hope that donors will help bring comfort, care, and a bit of holiday magic to those facing the end of life.

For more information about the 2024 Service Project or to inquire about donation options, contact the Student Activities Office in the Haney Union on the college's Booneville campus.
