NEMCC to offer Emergency Medical Technician Course in Fall 2026
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (07/25/2026) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Office of Continuing Education is accepting applications for its Fall 2026 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, providing students with the training needed to begin a career in emergency medical services.
Classes begin Thursday, August 13, and conclude Thursday, December 10, allowing students to complete the program before the start of the New Year.
Designed to accommodate working adults, the program combines traditional classroom instruction with live virtual instruction throughout the semester.
Students will attend in-person classes each Monday and Thursday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on the college's Booneville campus.
Northeast's EMT course is offered in partnership with Baptist Ambulance Service.
Program costs include $300 for tuition, $350 for books, a $55 malpractice insurance fee, which is nonrefundable, and a $55 fingerprinting fee.
All fees must be paid before classes begin.
Applicants must meet the admission requirements before enrolling in the course.
Students must:
- Be at least 18 years old and provide proof of age, such as a driver's license.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Hold current American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Pass a physical examination and drug screening administered by a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Provide documentation of a tuberculosis skin test or chest X-ray completed within the previous three months.
- Be current on the Hepatitis B vaccination series. Students must have received at least the first dose before classes begin or provide results of a Hepatitis B titer test if the vaccination series has already been completed.
- Provide proof of the required two-dose Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination.
- Meet one of the following academic requirements:
- Earn a Gold overall score on the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
- Score at least a 17 on the ACT.
- Demonstrate a 10th-grade reading level on the TABE Reading assessment.
- Have access to a laptop or tablet
