NEMCC welcomes local TikTok sensation and former Tiger for Cultural Arts event

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (10/23/2024) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Cultural Arts Committee will present a special event featuring local TikTok star and former Northeast Tiger Tre Welch of Booneville.

Known as "juicecupbox" on TikTok and Snapchat, Welch will give a presentation about his experiences as a social media influencer and the impact of platforms like TikTok on local culture.

Welch's event will take place on October 28 at 12:45 p.m. in the Claude Wright Room on the second floor of the Haney Union in Booneville.

With over two million followers, Welch has captured the hearts of many through his humorous content, often featuring his mother, Lorenda Welch, and her best friend, Shelly Cleveland.

Welch's videos, which require minimal scripting and no complex editing, showcase authentic moments between family members, emphasizing humor and the relatable dynamics of Southern life.

L. Welch, 58, is known for her reserved demeanor, while Cleveland, also 58, brings a lively, outspoken energy to their interactions.

T. Welch, 31, acts as the catalyst, sparking spontaneous and engaging conversations.

During his presentation, Welch will share insights into his journey from Booneville High School graduate -- where he was named Mr. BHS - to becoming a standout athlete for the Northeast baseball team to becoming a well-known social media figure.

Welch will discuss the challenges and rewards of being a digital creator, strategies for growing an online following, and the importance of staying true to oneself.

Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity for the audience to engage with Welch during a Q&A session.

In addition to his social media success, Welch has made a name for himself on the small screen as a main cast member on the TLC series I Love A Mama's Boy, which aired in 2022 and was filmed in Booneville, featuring several local businesses.

Beyond his media career, Welch remains deeply rooted in his community, maintaining strong ties to his church and coaching a little league team.

As his platform continues to grow, Welch hopes to keep sharing content that highlights his commitment to family, faith, and Southern hospitality.

Recently, Welch signed an exclusive deal with Drew Orey Studios, a talent management firm based in Atlanta, Ga. Which will allow Welch new opportunities that will allow him to turn his big dreams into reality with the support of his team.

Welch's lecture is sponsored by the Cultural Arts Committee and is free and open to the public.
