NEMCC seeks Marketing and Community Relations interns for 2026-27 academic year

by Michael H. Miller

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (08/04/2026) — Students interested in building a career in communications have an opportunity to gain firsthand experience through Northeast Mississippi Community College's Office of Marketing and Community Relations during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Applications are now being accepted for the college's year-long marketing internship program, which gives freshmen and sophomores the opportunity to work alongside Northeast's official marketing and community relations team while developing professional skills and creating a peer-reviewed portfolio before graduation.

Interns will receive practical experience in photography, videography, social media management, podcast production, graphic design and other areas of communications.

Throughout the academic year, students will contribute to real projects that promote the college across digital, print and social media platforms.

While the internship is unpaid, participants can gain valuable experience that prepares them for careers in communications, marketing, public relations, athletics media and other creative services.

Recent Northeast marketing interns have accepted positions with the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) Athletics department, Mississippi State University football program, the University of Southern Mississippi Athletics department and the Oxford Arts Council.

Along with developing technical skills, interns build professional relationships with industry professionals while creating work that reaches audiences throughout Northeast's five-county service area and beyond.

Part of the internship program also includes lessons from professionals in their respective fields. Advertising professionals, media personalities and others, who practice the craft every day, have stopped in to inspire the interns to explore the creative side of their internships and network.

Students selected for the internship become part of a collaborative team responsible for producing content seen by thousands through the college's website, publications, podcasts and social media channels.

Eligible applicants must be enrolled as either freshmen or sophomores at Northeast during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Students interested in applying or those who have questions should contact Northeast Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Liz Calvery at lrcalvery@nemcc.edu
