Tiger Tent or Treat returns to Northeast for final home football game

by Michael H. Miller

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (10/22/2026) — Northeast Mississippi Community College will bring back one of its most popular family events October 29 as Tiger Tent or Treat returns ahead of the Tigers' final home football game of the season.

Northeast's Public Relations Committee will host the event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Ramsey Student Services Building and around the fountain area outside the Haney Union.

Designed as a family-friendly introduction to the college, Tiger Tent or Treat gives children and parents a chance to visit the Booneville campus, meet members of the Northeast community and enjoy an evening of activities before kickoff.

Campus Country will provide this year's entertainment with a free concert from the elevated area in front of the Ramsey Student Services Building.

Campus Country's appearance comes one week before the ensemble presents its second Showtime of the year at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 5, in the Hines Hall Auditorium.

Tiger Tent or Treat has become a fall tradition at Northeast during the past five years, with organizers adding different attractions each year.

This year's emphasis stays close to campus by placing Campus Country at the center of the event while college departments and organizations welcome families throughout the Tiger Tent or Treat area.

Northeast President Dr. Ricky G. Ford's office also plans to provide free football tickets to families attending the event.

Free admission allows parents to introduce their children to a Northeast football game without adding ticket costs to the family outing.

For Northeast, it also creates an early connection with children who may one day return to campus as students.

Families can spend part of the afternoon collecting treats, listening to Campus Country and learning more about Northeast before making the short walk to Tiger Stadium for the 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

Northeast's community-wide Presidential Tailgate will add another option to the evening.

Sodexo will serve food from 5 to 6 p.m. in the same general area before fans head toward the stadium.

Past Presidential Tailgates have included hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, sides, desserts and drinks.

Food is provided at no cost to those attending through the Office of the President.

Combining Tiger Tent or Treat, the Campus Country concert, the Presidential Tailgate and Northeast football gives families several ways to experience campus during one evening.

For some children, October 29's event may bring their first visit to Northeast.

For others, a trip back to Northeast may rekindle memories of some of the best times of their lives.

For the college, it is a way to welcome members to the Northeast family.
