NEMCC, Mississippi Child Care Resource and Referral Center celebrate Week of the Young Child
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (04/03/2023) — Northeast Mississippi Community College and the Mississippi Child Care Resource and Referral Center at the Mississippi State University Extension campus on the Northeast Booneville campus are celebrating the National Association for the Education of Young Children's (NAEYC) 2023 Week of the Young Child.
Celebration festivities started on Saturday, April 1 with an Open House and continues through Friday, April 8.
National Association for the Education of Young Children's Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration that focuses on early childhood education and the importance of early learning experiences for children. It is a time to recognize the efforts of early childhood educators, families, and communities in providing quality early learning experiences for young children.
Community members are invited to participate in the daily festivities and activities to celebrate the Week of the Young Child and to recognize the importance of early childhood education.
Northeast's Mississippi Child Care Resource and Referral Center held an open house from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 in Waller Hall rooms 225, 226 and 227 where participants were invited to stop by, visit and learn about the resources that the center offers and the services that are free for providers and families.
Northeast Child Care Center's Little Tigers will be playing music in a parade in the Child Care playground at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3, for Music Monday, weather permitting, to get the week rolling.
On Tuesday, April 4, participants of all ages are welcome to stop by the Mississippi Child Care Resource and Referral Center to make their own rainbow with Fruit Loops and marshmallows.
Participants will decorate the walls of Waller Hall with their own poster board artwork on Work Together Wednesday, April 5, while Artsy Thursday, April 6, will feature an exhibit of all the art created during Work Together Wednesday.
Friday wraps up the celebration with a focus on family members' roles as young children's first and most important teachers. Participants are encouraged to share pictures and stories about their families on social media with the hashtag #WOYC23.
