NEMCC Announces Monthly ServSafe Seminars
Organizers have opened up Saturday seminars for working professionals
BOONEVILLE, Miss. (08/07/2024) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Office of Continuing Education has announced that it will be hosting a National Restaurant Association's ServSafe Seminar once a month for the rest of the school year.
These seminars, essential for food safety certification, will be led by Northeast Culinary Arts instructor Cristy Grissom inside Waller Hall on the college's Booneville campus.
To accommodate the working professional, organizers have split the ServSafe Seminars into Tuesday and Saturday meeting dates.
Usually, the ServSafe Seminars would fall on Tuesdays and require almost a full day's attention to detail but due to many participants holding down full-time or even part-time jobs, organizers have opened up some Saturday seminar dates as well.
Tuesday dates for the 2024-2025 academic year include Tuesday, October 22; Tuesday, April 1, 2025; Tuesday, May 13, 2025, and Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
New Saturday dates include Saturday, September 14; Saturday, January 11, 2025; Saturday, February 22, 2025, and Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Due to the Mississippi Department of Health's mandate that students must have their books and supplies seven days prior to the start of class, registration deadlines are September 6, October 14, January 3, 2025, February 14, 2025, March 24, 2025, May 5, 2025, June 2, 2025, and July 4, 2025.
Cost for each participant is $155, which includes the textbook, seminar, and breaks.
Members of the Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association can attend for a reduced fee of $125.
Re-testing is available for $50, and those needing to reschedule will incur a $30 fee.
