NEMCC Burgess Fitness Center helping people sweat during the summer
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (06/18/2024) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Burgess Fitness Center is helping people sweat during the summer months with its plethora of classes and offerings in June-July.
Northeast will offer eight different classes Monday through Thursday in June and July and even offers time with a personal trainer during the summer months.
Northeast has made a concerted effort to make the fitness center classes easier for those who work during the day, or for those who want to hide from the scorching afternoon sun inside, with many offerings coming after 4 p.m.
Five of the club's offerings will happen after 4 p.m. including time with personal trainer and former Northeast cheerleader Brianna Lowrey of Iuka.
One course kicks off before the sun comes up during the workweek while three others are during the normal lunch hour.
Classes for the week kick off with an Abs class by Burgess Fitness Center director Robert Walker at 12:15 p.m. on Mondays and the first day of the week will also see the most classes as well.
Following Walker's lunchtime Abs class, four more classes will occupy the early evening time on Mondays.
Spin will happen under the guidance of Ginger Murphy at 4:15 p.m. while Mary Hall will lead participants through stretching and relaxation in a yoga class at the NEMCC Health & Nutrition Center at the corner of Ellis Avenue and Second Street (across from Little Caesars) on Mondays at 4:30 p.m.
Lowrey takes on a pair of workouts during Monday afternoons as she offers her personal expertise for Personal Training hours from 3-5 p.m. on Mondays and then trades in the personal training attire to be the club's Pilates instructor at 5:15 on Monday.
As the week progresses, the schedule slows down at Burgess but the action heats up on Tuesday mornings as Murphy gets everyone bright and early with a Total Body Reset class at 5 a.m. on Tuesday mornings.
Murphy returns with Spin class at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesdays while Wednesdays and Thursdays only witness one class at the facility.
Murphy marks the third time in a week with Spin class at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesdays while Hall caps the week with a restorative yoga class on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m.
For anyone, who is not a member of the Burgess Fitness Center and would like to become a member, the fitness center offers convenient 3-, 6- and 12-month signups at some of the lowest gym membership registration costs in the area.
