NEMCC Campus Police expands fleet with vehicle donation from Prentiss County Board of Supervisors/Prentiss County Sheriff's Office

by Michael H. Miller

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (06/05/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College Campus Police Department recently added a new vehicle to its fleet, thanks to a donation from the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office and the Prentiss County Board of Supervisors, who facilitated the transfer.

Instead of listing the patrol vehicle in a recent surplus equipment auction, Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar opted to donate the vehicle directly to Northeast.

By signing over the title to the college, Tolar provided much-needed support to the college's law enforcement team, helping it avoid the cost of purchasing a new vehicle for the department's operational needs.

"We are extremely grateful to the Prentiss County Board of Supervisors, Sheriff Tolar and the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office for their continued support of our department and campus," said Northeast Chief of Campus Police Jason Jackson. "This donation allows us to better serve the Northeast community without placing a financial burden on the college."

Prentiss County's donated patrol vehicle joins a lineup that includes highly equipped Ford SUVs, Crown Victorias, and a maintenance truck used for assisting motorists.

Each vehicle in the police department's fleet plays a role in Northeast's commitment to safety, emergency response, and public service.

Chartered on July 1, 2005, the Northeast Mississippi Community College Campus Police Department aims to provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, while also upholding college policies, state laws, and federal regulations.
