NEMCC Continuing Education helping to protect public with latest course offering

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (09/11/2023) — Northeast Mississippi Community College Office of Continuing Education is taking steps to protect the public with its latest course offering.

Northeast will offer a "Firearm Safety for Women" course on Saturday, September 16, to give women the opportunity to gain essential knowledge and skills in handling handguns safely.

Over the course of a day (8 a.m. until 5 p.m.), participants will be introduced to classroom presentations and time at the firing range.

Participants will begin their firearm safety journey in the classroom during the morning hours, immersing themselves in the fundamentals of firearm operation, safety, and shooting techniques.

In the afternoon, attendees will proceed to the firing range, applying what they have learned under the guidance of experienced instructors.

This course aims to empower and educate women on personal safety strategies involving firearms and provides a comprehensive introduction to the basic terminology, safety protocols, and proper use of handguns, equipping participants with the tools to protect themselves effectively.

To enroll in the "Firearm Safety for Women" course, participants are required to furnish their own handgun, ammunition, ear protection, and a holster. The course is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a registration fee of $55. Class will be held in Holliday Hall on the college's Booneville campus.
