NEMCC CULTURAL ARTS WELCOMES THE DONIPHAN DANCE PROJECT TO BOONEVILLE

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (02/16/2024) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Cultural Arts Committee welcomes The Doniphan Dance Project to the stage in the Hines Hall Auditorium in late February.

Northeast's Cultural Arts Committee will host a special performance of the modern dance company from Tupelo on Tuesday, February 20 at 6 p.m.

In addition to the performance, a question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

Established in 2014, The Doniphan Dance Project is a non-profit dance organization with the mission of furthering the knowledge of modern dance in Tupelo area youth from a variety of backgrounds.

The Doniphan Dance Project is funded solely through sponsorships and the generosity of donors. Through this support, there is no expectation for dancers in the modern dance company to pay any expenses.

Performances are not the only thing that The Doniphan Dance Project offers. The Doniphan Dance Project also offers The School, which is a community-based dance and movement learning program that takes place in an inclusive and nurturing environment at The VOW Space.

Organizers welcome children of all abilities to represent The Doniphan Dance Project's diverse ethnic and racial background, identify with their truest selves and celebrate the love of movement. The School at The Doniphan Dance Project thrives on process-driven dance and movement classes that are not focused on a traditional recital performance style of teaching.

Instruction at The School at The Doniphan Dance Project is committed to non-competitive, progressive and inclusive instruction that is rooted in Doniphan Dance Project's core values of community, artistic excellence, creativity and access.

Three programs are offered at The School at The Doniphan Dance Project - early childhood movement and exploration, children and teen program and The Doniphan Dance Project's company program.

Each program is rooted in movement exploration, modern and contemporary dance technique, composition and choreography, and performance skills.
