NEMCC expands Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists certification course due to high demand
Officials added another offering due to significant local demand for the program
BOONEVILLE, Miss. (08/08/2024) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Office of Continuing Education has announced that it is hosting an additional offering of the highly sought-after "Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists" certification course.
This expansion comes in response to significant local demand for the program.
Starting on Monday, August 12, classes will be held on the fourth floor of Childers Hall at college's Booneville campus for the eight-week program.
Cost for the course is $1,200 per participant, which includes up to 36 credit hours.
Enrollment is limited to 20 students on a first-come, first-pay basis due to the course's intensive nature.
Northeast's "Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists" aims to equip practicing dental hygienists with the skills to assist dentists in managing and alleviating patients' dental pain.
Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge about nerve impulse propagation and blockage, as well as the mechanics of local anesthetic administration.
Required materials for the course include the textbook "Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists," 3rd edition by Demetra Logothetis, RDH, MS, syringes, a box of gloves, scrubs, closed-toe shoes, a lab jacket, and safety glasses.
To register, participants must provide a copy of their current Dental Hygienist License and CPR card at the time of registration.
