NEMCC Indoor Winter Guard Claims Back-to-Back Victories

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (04/02/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Indoor Winter Guard started the Spring 2025 semester strong, securing top finishes in its first two competitions of the season.

Competing in the All Age division of the Mississippi Indoor Association circuit, Northeast outperformed Apiary Winterguard and Project Imagination at Center Hill High School in Olive Branch, on Saturday, February 8, and repeated the feat on Saturday, March 1, at Southaven High School in Southaven.

At the February 8 competition, Northeast's General Effect score proved to be the deciding factor. Judges Bomar and Dalton awarded Northeast the highest marks, propelling the team to victory.

Northeast posted a 26.70 in General Effect, surpassing Project Imagination's 24.80 and Apiary's 22.80.

Additional category scores included a 12.40 in Design Analysis, an 11.74 in Equipment Analysis, and an 11.40 in Movement Analysis.

Northeast finished the competition with an overall score of 62.40, edging out Apiary (60.250) and Project Imagination (60.220).

Northeast carried that momentum into the March 1 competition, where General Effect again played a crucial role.

Judges Pavlock and Hosey awarded Northeast a 27.80 in the category, narrowly outscoring Project Imagination's 27.60 and Apiary's 26.90.

Northeast also showed improvement in other areas, recording a 14.41 in Movement Analysis and a 13.48 in Equipment Analysis.

Project Imagination posted the top Design Analysis score with a 15.40, but Northeast's overall performance secured another first-place finish with a total score of 71.090. Apiary followed with a 70.750, and Project Imagination placed third with 70.720.

Northeast's 2025 performance is inspired by the musical Hamilton.
