NEMCC racks up awards at 2025 CPRAM Conference, takes home Grand Prize for Electronic Media
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (06/02/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Marketing and Public Relations Department, along with the Office of Public Information, earned some of the top honors during the 2025 College Public Relations Association of Mississippi's (CPRAM) annual conference held recently in Starkville.
Northeast collected a dozen accolades, including a prestigious Grand Prize in the Electronic Media category for the college's engaging use of TikTok.
Public Relations and Marketing Specialists Liz Calvery and Alli Scott impressed judges with their creative, consistent, and viral approach on the social media platform, earning them the top prize in the Electronic Media category in the Junior Division.
"I would like to congratulate Liz, Alli, and the Northeast Mississippi Community College team for their outstanding achievement at the CPRAM conference," said Northeast President Dr. Ricky G. Ford. "Your innovative and engaging use of TikTok showcases the power of creativity and dedication in public relations and marketing."
Each year, CPRAM brings together public relations, public information and communication professionals from two-year and four-year institutions across Mississippi, dividing entries into Junior and Senior Divisions. The Junior Division includes Mississippi's community colleges, while the Senior Division features the state's universities.
Judges evaluate submissions in 38 categories across three primary mediums - print, mixed media, and electronic media - with Grand Prizes awarded to the standout entry in each category.
In addition to the Grand Prize, Northeast earned six first-place finishes, one second-place award, and four third-place honors-bringing the college's total to 12 recognitions at this year's CPRAM competition.
"These young men and women work extremely hard for Northeast every day and I couldn't be more proud for them to have some of their work named among the best in the state," said Northeast Vice President of Public Information Tony Finch.
Nine individuals from Northeast were acknowledged by CPRAM judges for their work during the year, including recruiter Katie Jones, who captured first place in the Single Piece of Artwork - Non-Sports category for her Junior Preview Night Sign-In Poster.
Booneville student Maria Jenkins contributed to the award-winning NEMCC TikTok account, while Northeast President Dr. Ricky G. Ford was recognized for his role in the college's weekly podcast, TigerTalk, which earned second place in the Radio Programs/Podcasts category.
"Having been personally involved with the Presidential TigerTalk podcast, this is even more rewarding," said Ford.
Luke Price of Luke Price Studios, LLC in Corinth partnered with Calvery to produce the college's 2024 Television Commercial, which received first place in the Television Spot category.
