NEMCC Softball to host popular Daddy/Daughter Night at The Plex

by Michael H. Miller

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (08/07/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College is all about family and a tradition has started with the Tigers softball program as it brings back its popular Daddy/Daughter Night at The Plex.

Set for Monday, August 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the event offers a fun and memorable evening where fathers and daughters can bond through their shared love of athletics -- especially softball.

Northeast's Daddy/Daughter Night event is free to the public and welcomes families from across the region.

Northeast's first Daddy/Daughter Night saw approximately 75 pairs of fathers and daughters step onto The Plex -- many for the very first time -- creating a family-like atmosphere in the City of Hospitality.

Northeast's Baseball/Softball Complex, known as The Plex, is located at 600 N. Third Street in Booneville.

This year's event promises to be even bigger than the previous with the addition of live music by Jacee Harlow of Tupelo, a crowd favorite known for her dynamic performances and who has toured across the southeastern United States.

Alongside the musical entertainment, families can enjoy concessions, interactive softball activities, meet members of the Tiger softball team and a dad-exclusive home run derby, which was added to help bring some brevity to the event.

A highlight of the evening will be a special autograph session featuring Division I athletes, including:

Rylee Tittle and Hailey Minchew, former Northeast standouts now competing for the University of North Alabama softball team. Tittle and Minchew were battery mates at Northeast and will continue their softball careers in Florence, Ala.

Ellie Fryar, a Pine Grove High School alum now suiting up for the Mississippi College Choctaws.

Delainey Everett, a pitcher for the Mississippi State University Lady Bulldogs, who made headlines by throwing over 79 innings and earning the win against the powerhouse University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers. Originally from Oakdale, California, Everett brings elite-level experience to the event.

"Daddy/Daughter Night is more than just a softball event," said Northeast assistant coach Kevin Connell. "It's about making memories, building relationships, and inspiring the next generation of athletes to connect with their dads."

Connell reminds local businesses that want to part of the family tradition event that sponsorships are still available and can be added at anytime up until the event. Businesses taking out sponsorships will have a unique opportunity to have their business featured on the softball video board during the event for all participants to see.
