by Michael H. Miller

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (07/18/2024) — Northeast Mississippi Community College will conduct a training drill at Anderson Hall on Tuesday, July 23.

Held in collaboration with the Booneville Police Department and the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department along with local emergency management officials, the drill is designed to prepare and protect the campus community in case of an actual emergency.

"We want our community to feel safe and confident in our preparedness efforts," said Northeast Chief of Campus Police Jason Jackson. "By conducting these drills, we are taking proactive steps to ensure that we can respond effectively to any emergency that might arise on our campus."

Participants will go through classroom training on Monday, July 22 before taking part in the drill on Tuesday, July 23.

Northeast advises all students, faculty, staff, and local residents to be aware of the drill and to expect increased presence of law enforcement and emergency personnel in and around Anderson Hall on July 23.

"The safety and security of students, faculty, and staff are the top priorities to all involved," Jackson said.

Northeast officials appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the entire community as the college works to enhance campus safety.
