BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (06/04/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Division of Workforce announces the launch of a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) Certification program, set to begin in July 2025.

Northeast's CMAA program is a 20-week hybrid course will start on July 28, designed to equip participants with essential skills for medical administrative roles.

Northeast's Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) Certification program provides a blend of online and in-person instruction, covering crucial areas such as scheduling, patient encounters, billing and revenue cycles, medical law, ethics and compliance, and administrative procedures within a medical practice.

Participants who complete the course will have the opportunity to earn the nationally recognized Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) credential and six hours of college credit through Northeast.

While participants have the opportunity to earn up to six hours of college credit, Northeast Workforce's Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) Certification program is different than the one issued by the college's Medical Assisting Technology program.

In addition to certification, students will receive CPR/Basic Life Saving training, while gaining healthcare-specific essential skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, situational de-escalation, and emotional intelligence.

Night classes are available at Northeast's Corinth, Ripley, and New Albany campuses, offering flexible scheduling for those balancing work or other commitments.

Prospective students must hold a Silver level or higher on the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) and have either a high school diploma or GED/HSE.
