NISOD recognizes nine NEMCC employees
BOONEVILLE, Miss. (07/15/2024) — Nine Northeast Mississippi Community College employees have been honored with the prestigious national award for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Romelia Agnew, Laura B. Gilham, Mary Hall, Vickie Hopkins, Rochelle Jenkins, Stevie Lovelace, Tiffany Middleton, Dr. Nickea Shelton and Brian Warren were all honored by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) for the organization's Excellence Awards for the previous academic year.
Northeast's nine awardees mark a continued tradition of excellence at the college, with faculty and staff consistently being honored by NISOD for the past five years, excluding 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Agnew serves as an eLearning Assistant at Northeast while Gilham recently retired at the end of the academic year as a librarian. Hall is the assistant manager of the Northeast Bookstore; Hopkins is the program director of the college's Medical Assisting Technology program while Jenkins is an admissions/recruiting assistant.
Lovelace serves as a Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology instructor; Middleton is the director of the employee development center; Shelton serves as a counselor in the college's student success center while Warren is an Industrial Maintenance Technology instructor.
NISOD Excellence Award honorees were celebrated at the International Conference on Teaching and Learning Excellence, held in Austin, Texas, from May 25-28 during an awards dinner and celebration that took place on Sunday, May 26, where the recipients received their medallions.
In addition to medallions, NISOD Excellence Award honorees were mentioned in the Excellence Awards Booklet, and had their portraits displayed.
Each winner also received an Excellence Awards Certificate and a special invitation to author an article for NISOD's flagship publication, Innovation Abstracts.
NISOD's Excellence Awards were established in 1991 to honor individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary work on their campuses.
Since its inception, more than 30,000 recipients have been recognized for their outstanding commitment and contributions to their students and colleagues.
