Northeast Continuing Education to offer CNA training program in Ripley
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (09/18/2023) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Office of Continuing Education will be offering a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training program in Ripley during the Fall 2023 semester.
Northeast's CNA program aims to provide aspiring healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field.
Classes will be held each Tuesday and Thursday night from September 26 until December 5, with Saturdays scheduled by the instructor for skills and clinicals.
Class will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the Tippah Career & Technology Center, located at 2560 CR 501 in Ripley and clinical rotations will be conducted at the Tippah County Hospital/Nursing Home.
To ensure the quality of the program, participants must be able to commit to the full class duration.
Any participant who misses more than three classes will be dismissed from the program, and clinical absences will not be allowed.
Program fees are set at $400, which includes tuition and books. Payments can be made via check, money order, or debit/credit card.
In addition to the program fees, there is a $50 fee for fingerprinting and background checks and must be made by money order.
To qualify for the class, potential students must be 18 years old or older and have either a 16 on the ACT or a Silver certification on the Work Keys Test.
Additionally, applicants must complete the application packet, which includes all shot records and submit full payment for the class. It is important to note that full payment is required to reserve a spot in the class, as enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students must have navy scrubs and sneakers as part of the uniform. They must also bring a stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff, and a watch with a second hand.
Additionally, participants should bring a black pen and a pocket-sized notebook to class.
Transportation to and from the testing center is the responsibility of each student.
Upon completion of the program, students will need to register and pay for the CNA exam, which includes both a skills and written exam. Cost for the CNA exam is $110.
Graduates of the Certified Nurse Aide training program will have potential employment opportunities in hospitals, nursing homes, and home and hospice health agencies.
