Northeast eSports club to host Super Smash Bros. tournament
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (11/04/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's eSports Club is bringing the excitement of eSports to the college's Booneville campus with a Super Smash Bros. Tournament on Monday, November 10, on the ground floor of Daws Hall.
Northeast's Super Smash Bros. Tournament will kick off at 6 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
Northeast's tournament is open to all current Northeast students, faculty, and staff.
Not only is the tournament to open to Northeast students but employees are also welcome to stop in and play as the organization wants to offer a fun and competitive environment for all gamers across campus.
Across the nation, eSports has evolved into a legitimate and recognized sport, fostering teamwork and inclusion while providing a sense of community for students who thrive in digital environments.
Popular games such as Rocket League, Madden, NCAA Football, NBA 2K25, and Apex Legends have become staples of collegiate gaming tournaments, giving players the chance to test their skills in friendly -- yet ultra-competitive -- competition.
Northeast's eSports Club has already hosted a pair of successful Master Dual Tournaments earlier this fall, drawing participation from students eager to showcase their gaming talents.
Northeast's eSports Club continues to raise awareness of eSports with the organization holding a pair of Super Smash Bros. Tournaments in the Eula Dees Memorial Library in the past couple of years.
