Northeast Indoor Guard earns second straight victory at Center Hill competition
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (03/31/2026) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Indoor Guard captured its second victory of the 2026 season during competition at Center Hill High School in Olive Branch inside DeSoto County on Saturday, March 21.
Coming less than 24 hours after hosting its own annual indoor event at Bonner Arnold Coliseum, Northeast's performance at Center Hill solidified its standing as one of the premier Independent A units in the region.
Northeast's indoor competition on Friday, March 20, featured performances from 26 indoor percussion, indoor winds, and indoor guard groups from across the Magnolia State.
Northeast excelled in every judging area at Center Hill, taking top honors in Equipment Analysis, Movement Analysis, Design Analysis, and both General Effect categories. The group's most dominant showing came in Movement Analysis, where it posted a 14.79 to outpace the next competitor's 12.94.
Scores from the General Effect category also helped separate Northeast from the field, with a three-point advantage based on the combined results from two judges.
General Effect Judge Amanda Jones of Smyrna, Tenn., awarded Northeast a 15.80 to Memphis Winter Guard's 14.30, while Head Judge and second General Effect judge Adam Dalton of Atlanta, Ga., scored Northeast at 15.3 in the category.
Northeast finished with a 76.700 overall, well ahead of Memphis Winter Guard's 69.970. The nearly seven-point victory was one of the widest margins recorded during an event that featured cadet, high school, independent, and all-age divisions.
Earlier this season, Northeast opened with a first-place finish at Neshoba Central High School on February 14.
Northeast's 2026 show, entitled "The View From My Grandmother's Porch," features performers staging and performing around a full replica of a grandmother's porch -- an element that has become a signature visual in this year's competition.
Northeast Indoor Guard is under the direction of Dr. Amy Langley.
Additional staff members include Jake Cosby and Megan Kimble.
Northeast's next Indoor Guard performance is set for the Mississippi Indoor Association's (MIA) State Championships to be held at The Pavillion on the campus of the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) on April 3-4.
