Northeast theatre to host fall short play auditions
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (08/19/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's Theatre Department, under the direction of Christopher Schager of Oxford, is calling all aspiring actors and backstage talent to take part in its upcoming Fall Short Plays.
Auditions will be held Monday, August 25, and Tuesday, August 26, from 1-3 p.m. in the Hines Hall Auditorium.
All Northeast students are welcome and encouraged to participate -- no previous theatre experience is required.
Participants do not need to bring a prepared monologue, as auditions will feature cold readings directly from the production scripts.
Northeast's Fall Short Plays will take the stage this October, offering students the chance to showcase their talents in a variety of fast-paced performances.
For those who prefer working behind the scenes, the department also offers opportunities to earn production credits through SPT 1241.
Students can get hands-on experience in set construction, props, and backstage crew work, helping bring each play to life from behind the curtain.
