Northeast to host June Orientation sessions for new and transfer students

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (05/28/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College will welcome incoming first-year and transfer students to campus for two Summer Orientation sessions on Thursday, June 5, and Thursday, June 19.

Northeast's summer orientation sessions are designed to help new students prepare for the upcoming fall semester.

Incoming first-year students or transfer students, who have not participated in an Orientation at one of the nation's premier community colleges, will have the choice of registering for an 8:30 a.m. session, a 10 a.m. session or a 1:30 p.m. session.

Held in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union, orientation sessions offer opportunities for students to register for classes, connect with academic advisors, and finalize admission and financial aid requirements so that the transition to college is seamless in the fall.

Students will have the chance to register for one of three time slots on either Orientation Day.

Summer Orientation also allows students to tour the campus, pick up their student ID cards, and become more familiar with the many resources Northeast offers.

As a note, incoming freshmen will also be enrolled in Northeast's College Life course, a required first-semester class that supports students in their transition to college by promoting academic success, career planning, and personal growth.

During this course, students meet with their advisor and build a strong advising relationship from the beginning of their college journey.
