NEMCC WELCOMES OVER 240 TO PRESTIGIOUS HONOR SOCIETY

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society welcomed approximately 240 students into the international honor society during its Spring 2025 induction on Monday, February 15 in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union on the college's Booneville campus. To be eligible for membership in the Northeast Iota Zeta chapter, a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be a full-time student at the college. Included in the 242 students welcomed into the organization during the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society's induction were representatives from four states and international country.

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society welcomed approximately 200 students into the international honor society during its Fall 2024 induction on Monday, September 23 in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union on the college's Booneville campus. To be eligible for membership in the Northeast Iota Zeta chapter, a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be a full-time student at the college.

NEMCC Phi Theta Kappa welcomes over 200 into prestigious honor society

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society welcomed 215 students into the international honor society during its Spring 2024 induction on Tuesday, February 20. To be eligible for membership in the Northeast Iota Zeta chapter, a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Included in the 215 students welcomed into the organization during the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society's induction were representatives from three states. Two hundred and four (204) inductees hail from Mississippi while six come from Alabama and five call Tennessee home. One hundred and seventy-three (173) of the 215 to join the organization hail Northeast's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union. Inductees represented 50 different cities, towns and communities throughout the southeastern United States and have expressed interest in majoring in accounting, agriculture, architecture, art, biology, business, civil engineering, communications, construction, criminal justice, dental hygiene, education, electrical engineering, English, health sciences, law, mechanical engineering, medicine, medical technology, management, nursing, pharmacology, political sciences, psychology, radiologic technology, sociology, theatre, veterinary medicine and other areas of concentration.

NEMCC Phi Theta Kappa welcomes over 315 during 2022-2023 academic year

Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) has announced that over 300 students have been inducted into the prestigious Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for the 2022 fall and 2023 spring semesters. Induction for fall invitees took place on Monday, September 26, 2022, in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union, while the spring induction ceremony was held on April 17 at 6 p.m. during Honors Night in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum. Fall induction saw 161 students join the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa. Students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance, dedication, and commitment to excellence in their academic pursuits. Similarly, the spring semester induction ceremony, to be held during Honors Night in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum, will recognize the academic excellence of 154 students who have received notice of their induction into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Over 115 NEMCC students inducted into PTK honor society

Over 115 Northeast Mississippi Community College students were inducted into the college's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society during the organization's fall induction on Monday, October 4. Northeast's induction ceremony was held in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union on the Booneville-campus but due to COVID protocols, no outside guests were allowed at the event. For those who wish to see the event, it has been archived at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbl-nfTk-Rk Each new member recited the chapter's pledge under the guidance of the Iota Zeta chapter president Phillip Henson, signed the Book of Oath and was awarded a certificate of membership. Mississippi State University president and Northeast Mississippi Community College alum Dr. Mark Keenum served as the keynote address for the event and spoke through a pre-recorded video. Katy Tucker, the recruitment coordinator for Mississippi State University, was on hand to answer any questions and inform students about transfer opportunities throughout the state. Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 countries, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation's colleges. Learn more at ptk.org.
