NEMCC WELCOMES OVER 240 TO PRESTIGIOUS HONOR SOCIETY

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society welcomed approximately 240 students into the international honor society during its Spring 2025 induction on Monday, February 15 in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union on the college's Booneville campus. To be eligible for membership in the Northeast Iota Zeta chapter, a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be a full-time student at the college. Included in the 242 students welcomed into the organization during the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society's induction were representatives from four states and international country.

NEMCC NAMES 517 TO FALL 2024 VICE PRESIDENT'S LIST

Five hundred and seventeen (517) Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.9 on a 4.0 scale for the 2024 Fall semester and as a result, have been named to the college's distinguished Vice-President's List. Included in the list are representatives from 89 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America - 499 Vice-President's List scholars are from Mississippi, 12 are from Tennessee, five hail from Alabama and one is from Arkansas. Three hundred and eighty (380) scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties while 137 were from outside the service area. Compared to the previous year, over 77 more students achieved Vice Presidential List status compared to Fall 2023. Joining the over 500 individuals on the Vice President's List at Northeast was Overall, 885 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice-President's List at Northeast for the 2024 Fall semester. Eight hundred and forty-seven (847) are from the Magnolia State, 23 live in Tennessee, 11 are from Alabama while Arkansas and Louisiana each had a representative on the honor rolls. Two scholars reside outside the boundaries of the United States and call Buenos Aires, Argentina and Johannesburg, South Africa home, respectively. Of the 885 students making either the President's or Vice President's lists at Northeast, 682 reside within the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties. In total, Northeast's sphere of influence touched 111 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America with scholars hailing from five different states and two other countries other than the United States of America.

NEMCC NAMES 368 TO FALL 2024 PRESIDENT'S LIST

Three hundred and sixty-eight (368) Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2024 Fall semester and as a result, have been named to the college's distinguished President's List. Included in the list are representatives from 66 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America - 348 President's List scholars are from Mississippi, 11 hail from Tennessee, six call Alabama home and one scholar is from Louisiana. Two Presidential scholars call Buenos Aires, Argentina and Johannesburg, South Africa home, respectively. Two hundred and seven (302) scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties while 66 were from outside the service area. Compared to the previous year, over 100 more students achieved Presidential List status compared to Fall 2023. Overall, 885 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice-President's List at Northeast for the 2024 Fall semester. NEMCC Announces 2024 Homecoming Court

Northeast Mississippi Community College has announced its 2024 Homecoming Court. Booneville's Isabel Grace Williford will serve as this year's Homecoming Queen. Williford, alongside her fellow homecoming maids, will be officially introduced at a pep rally on Thursday, October 10, and presented to the crowd at halftime of the Northeast Tigers' homecoming football game against East Mississippi Community College.

NEMCC recognizes Social, Behavioral and Applied Sciences students at annual Honors Night

Northeast Mississippi Community College celebrated the accomplishments and achievements of its employees and students during the college's annual Honors Day Ceremony on Thursday, April 25. During the 2024 version of Northeast Honors Day, which is presented by the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, five students were selected from the Division of Social, Behavioral and Applied Sciences for individual honors from their division. Academic head for the Division of Social, Behavioral and Applied Sciences Robbie Coleman presented three academic excellence awards, a division all-star award and the division's most outstanding student during the awards night. Sydney Brooks of Rienzi, Sanatana Gentry of Hickory Flat and Isabelle Martindale of Walnut were all awarded for academic excellence in the Division of Social, Behavioral and Applied Sciences while Taylor Cornelius of Rienzi was selected as the division's all-star student. Avery Tapp of Iuka was named the Most Outstanding Student for the Division of Social, Behavioral and Applied Sciences for the 2023-2024 academic year. Northeast's Honors Day serves as a ceremony to recognize the school's top students in each of its six academic divisions - business & engineering, fine arts, health sciences, languages & humanities, mathematics & sciences and social, behavioral and applied sciences, along with Phi Theta Kappa chapter, officer and advisor awards, Honors Institute graduates and teacher of the year selections, recognition for the college's Scholar's Bowl team, honoring members of the Collegiate DECA, Collegiate FBLA and Collegiate FFA Alumni and Supporters chapters. Students are also recognized for their placement in the college's student art exhibition, the college's creative writing competition (Tyger Symmetry) and for those showing true athletic prowess on and off the field of competition through the announcement of the Tiger Award winners for student-athletes. Northeast faculty members are also honored with the Tremendous Individual Performance (TIP) and Teaching Outstanding Performance (TOP) awards and the Humanities Teacher of the Year. Northeast's Alumni Association and Development Association also uses the Honors Day to celebrate the accomplishments of all students who have received a Foundation Scholarship throughout the academic year. For each one of the college's six academic divisions, faculty members from each respective division are tasked with awarding three Academic Excellence awards, a division all-star award and the Most Outstanding Student award for each division. During the 2024 version of Northeast Honors Day, which is presented by the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, five students were selected from the Division of Mathematics and Sciences for individual honors from their division. Academic head for the Division of Mathematics and Sciences Andrea Mathis presented three academic excellence awards, a division all-star award and the division's most outstanding student during the awards night. Caitlyn Carnathan of Saltillo, Jackson Mayer of Myrtle and William Norwood of Guntown were all awarded for academic excellence in the Division of Mathematics and Sciences while Cheyenne Johnson of Tishomingo was selected as the division's all-star student. Belle Martindale of Walnut was named the Most Outstanding Student for the Division of Mathematics and Sciences for the 2023-2024 academic year. Glen's Isabell Receives Jane Williams Excellence in Nursing Award at NEMCC

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Practical Nursing Education staff announced that Brandy Isabell of Glen has been awarded the prestigious Jane Williams Excellence in Nursing Award. Isabell's honor was given during the Practical Nursing Education (PNE) Lamplighting and Pinning Ceremony held on Thursday, July 25, in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union. Northeast's Jane Williams Excellence in Nursing Award, now in its 10th year, honors the memory of Jane Williams, a dedicated educator who served Northeast Mississippi Community College for 39 years.

Kymberlie Gable of Booneville, Grace Lambert of Booneville and Lily Little of Corinth were all awarded for academic excellence in the Division of Languages and Humanities while Lilly Melson of Booneville was selected as the division's all-star student. Four hundred and eleven (411) Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.9 on a 4.0 scale for the 2024 Spring semester and, as a result, have been named to the college's distinguished Vice President's List. Included in the list are representatives from 80 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America: 392 Vice President's List scholars are from Mississippi, nine are from Alabama, eight hail from Tennessee, one is from Georgia and one is from Johannesburg, South Africe. Three hundred and fifteen (315) scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties, while 96 were from outside the service area. Overall, 677 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice President's List at Northeast for the 2024 Fall semester. Northeast Mississippi Community College celebrated the accomplishments and achievements of its employees and students during the college's annual Honors Day Ceremony on Thursday, April 25. During the 2024 version of Northeast Honors Day, which is presented by the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, five students were inducted into the college's prestigious Hall of Fame. Northeast's Vice President of Instruction Dr. Michelle Baragona welcomed Jocelyn Ball of Booneville, Ben Barrett of Booneville, Kirklyn Johnson of Houston, Jeff Nock of Blue Springs and Meghan Windham of Booneville into the hallowed halls of the college's Hall of Fame during the ceremony.

NEMCC Livestock Judging Team Impresses on International Stage

Northeast Mississippi Community College's livestock judging team displayed its skills at the International Beef Judging Competition held at the Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson earlier in the spring semester. Northeast's livestock judging team, which is composed of all freshmen students, distinguished itself as the sole community college representation from the eastern side of the Mississippi River, by evaluating twelve classes of steers, heifers, and bulls. Through the team's knowledge and research, members provided reasons for their placements in eight of those classes. Among the 37 teams participating at International Beef Judging Competition held at the Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson earlier in the spring semester, Northeast took home an eleventh-place finish.

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Scholar's Bowl team is making it an old habit of qualifying for the National Academic Quiz Tournaments Inc. (NAQT) Community College Championship Tournament. Northeast, which showcased its intellectual prowess at the NAQT Community College Sectional Championship Tournament held in Hanceville, Alabama earlier in the semester has qualified for the NAQT Community College Championship Tournament to be held on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago hotel in Rosemont, Illinois.

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Campus Country is set to rock the Hines Hall Auditorium on Thursday, February 22 with its third Showtime of the academic year. With a diverse setlist ranging from country hits by Hardy, the late Toby Keith, and Carrie Underwood to the soulful tunes of Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift's pop-infused melodies, Campus Country plans for an exciting evening of music. Admission to the concert is free for Northeast employees and students. Tickets are available to the public for just $7.

Northeast Mississippi Community College's theatre department will present its spring play on February 7, February 8 and February 12 in the Hines Hall Auditorium on the college's Booneville campus. Under the direction of Christopher Schager of Oxford, NEMCC's theatre department will present The Man Who Couldn't Dance, by Jason Katims. Curtain rises on the spring play at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7 and at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 8 and Monday, February 12.

NEMCC Phi Theta Kappa welcomes over 200 into prestigious honor society

Northeast Mississippi Community College's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society welcomed 215 students into the international honor society during its Spring 2024 induction on Tuesday, February 20. To be eligible for membership in the Northeast Iota Zeta chapter, a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Included in the 215 students welcomed into the organization during the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society's induction were representatives from three states. Two hundred and four (204) inductees hail from Mississippi while six come from Alabama and five call Tennessee home. One hundred and seventy-three (173) of the 215 to join the organization hail Northeast's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union. Inductees represented 50 different cities, towns and communities throughout the southeastern United States and have expressed interest in majoring in accounting, agriculture, architecture, art, biology, business, civil engineering, communications, construction, criminal justice, dental hygiene, education, electrical engineering, English, health sciences, law, mechanical engineering, medicine, medical technology, management, nursing, pharmacology, political sciences, psychology, radiologic technology, sociology, theatre, veterinary medicine and other areas of concentration.

NEMCC announces 2023 Fall Vice President's List

Four hundred and forty (440) Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.9 on a 4.0 scale for the 2023 Fall semester and, as a result, have been named to the college's distinguished Vice President's List. Included in the list are representatives from 80 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America: 414 Vice President's List scholars are from Mississippi, 14 are from Tennessee, nine hail from Alabama and one is from Arkansas, Connecticut and Georgia, respectively. Three hundred and thirty-seven (337) scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties, while 103 were from outside the service area. Overall, 707 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice President's List at Northeast for the 2023 Fall semester. Six hundred and sixty-four (664) are from the Magnolia State, 24 live in Tenneesse, and 15 are from Alabama, while Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida and Georgia each had a representative on the honor rolls. Of the 707 students making either the President's or Vice President's lists at Northeast, 544 reside within the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties. In total, Northeast's sphere of influence touched 102 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America, with scholars hailing from seven different states.

Two hundred and seven (207) scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties while 60 were from outside the service area. Overall, 707 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice-President's List at Northeast for the 2023 Fall semester. NEMCC to celebrate 2023 Homecoming

Northeast Mississippi Community College will celebrate its annual Homecoming on Thursday, October 5 at Tiger Stadium during halftime of the Tiger football team's clash against the Holmes Bulldogs. During recent campus-wide elections, Madison Olivia Bennett of Tishomingo was elected to serve as homecoming queen for the 2023-2024 academic year. Bennett and the rest of her court will be presented at a pep rally in their honor on Thursday, October 5 at 12:10 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Ramsey Student Services Building and the full court with escorts will traverse across the field at Tiger Stadium during halftime.

NEMCC Phi Theta Kappa welcomes over 315 during 2022-2023 academic year

Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) has announced that over 300 students have been inducted into the prestigious Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for the 2022 fall and 2023 spring semesters. Induction for fall invitees took place on Monday, September 26, 2022, in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union, while the spring induction ceremony was held on April 17 at 6 p.m. during Honors Night in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum. Fall induction saw 161 students join the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa. Students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance, dedication, and commitment to excellence in their academic pursuits. Similarly, the spring semester induction ceremony, to be held during Honors Night in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum, will recognize the academic excellence of 154 students who have received notice of their induction into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
