NEMCC ELECTS IUKA'S LOWREY 2022 HOMECOMING QUEEN

Northeast Mississippi Community College's student body recently elected Iuka native Brianna Lowrey to reign as the college's 2022 Homecoming Queen during campus-wide elections in mid-September. Lowrey's election as homecoming queen comes just four weeks since the two-year community college started back to school for the Fall 2022 semester. Lowrey and the 2022 Homecoming court will make their first official appearance at a pep rally in their honor on the front lawn of the Ramsey Student Services Building on Thursday, September 22, at 12:10 p.m

NEMCC recognizes 2022 Tiger Award winners

Northeast Mississippi Community College acknowledged the accomplishments and achievements of its employees and students during the college's annual Honors Day ceremony on Monday, April 18. During the 2022 Honors Day ceremony, which is sponsored by the college's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, the college recognized ten students as Tiger Award recipients for their dedication to their respective sports on and off the field of competition. Northeast Athletic Director Kent Farris presented Gray Berry, Zeke Cook, Austin Lauderdale, Calysia Phillips, Mikayla Rogers, Marlee Turner, Cedrick Wilder, Jr., Wesley Wiltshire and Albanie Windham with the 2022 Tiger Awards.

NEMCC confers over 600 degrees

Northeast Mississippi Community College held its annual commencement exercises in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum on Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13 in front of capacity crowds of graduates, friends, family and fans. Health science students walked across the stage on Thursday, May 12 as those receiving degrees and certificates in Associate Degree Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Medical Assisting Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology and Respiratory Technology were all pinned by their respective program directors. On Friday, May 13, the college celebrated university parallel students and those receiving their degrees in career and technical education degrees and certificates. In total, over 600 students received their degrees from Northeast Mississippi Community College between the Fall 2021 and the Spring 2022 semesters.

NEMCC announces 2022 Spring Vice President's List

Three hundred and seventy-seven (377) Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.9 on a 4.0 scale for the 2022 spring semester and as a result, have been named to the college's distinguished Vice President's List. Included in the list are representatives from 62 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America - 365 Vice-President's List scholars are from Mississippi, seven hail from Tennessee and five are from Alabama. Two hundred and eighty-eight (288) scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties while 89 were from outside the service area. Overall, 626 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice President's List at Northeast for the 2022 spring semester. Students who earned inclusion on the 2022 Spring Vice President's List at Northeast Mississippi Community College were:

Two hundred and forty-nine (249) Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2022 spring semester and as a result, have been named to the college's distinguished President's List. Included in the list are representatives from 62 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America - 242 President's List scholars are from Mississippi, five hail from Tennessee and two are from Alabama. Two hundred and two (202) scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties while 47 were from outside the service area. Overall, 626 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice President's List at Northeast for the 2022 spring semester. Four hundred and four (404) Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.9 on a 4.0 scale for the 2021 fall semester and as a result, have been named to the college's distinguished Vice President's List. Included in the list are representatives from 74 different cities, towns and communities across the United States of America - 392 Vice-President's List scholars are from Mississippi, six hail from Tennessee, three are from Alabama, two are from Arkansas and one is from Michigan. Three hundred and thirteen scholars came from the college's five-county service area of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union counties while 91 were from outside the service area. Overall, 650 individuals were either named to the President's List or the Vice President's List at Northeast for the 2021 fall semester. Tishomingo's Hollingsworth Wins 2021-22 Most Beautiful Title at NEMCC

Northeast Mississippi Community College first-year student Chloe Addison Hollingsworth of Tishomingo was crowned the college's Most Beautiful at the school's annual Parade of Beauties pageant on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Due to renovations in the Seth Pounds Auditorium, the college's Parade of Beauties pageant found a new home in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union and history returned as well. Hollingsworth's crowning meant that the Tishomingo freshman became the seventh first-year student in the last eight years that the pageant has been held to win the one-night affair.

Over 115 NEMCC students inducted into PTK honor society

Over 115 Northeast Mississippi Community College students were inducted into the college's Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society during the organization's fall induction on Monday, October 4. Northeast's induction ceremony was held in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union on the Booneville-campus but due to COVID protocols, no outside guests were allowed at the event. For those who wish to see the event, it has been archived at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbl-nfTk-Rk Each new member recited the chapter's pledge under the guidance of the Iota Zeta chapter president Phillip Henson, signed the Book of Oath and was awarded a certificate of membership. Mississippi State University president and Northeast Mississippi Community College alum Dr. Mark Keenum served as the keynote address for the event and spoke through a pre-recorded video. Katy Tucker, the recruitment coordinator for Mississippi State University, was on hand to answer any questions and inform students about transfer opportunities throughout the state. Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 countries, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation's colleges. Learn more at ptk.org. Phi Theta Kappa's purpose is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. Northeast Mississippi Community College's student body recently elected Ripley native Ally Melton to reign as the college's 2021 Homecoming Queen during campus-wide elections in early October.
