NEMCC award-winning Adult Education meets demand of area, sets more fall class dates

Day classes set for October 23 while night classes begin November 7-8 in all five of NEMCC's service counties

BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (10/16/2023) — Northeast Mississippi Community College's award-winning Adult Education department is meeting the demands of the area by providing more classes for those wanting to get their HiSET or GED during the 2023-2024 academic year.

With a strong commitment to empowering adult learners and providing accessible educational opportunities, Northeast now offers a range of day and night courses designed to cater to the diverse needs of students seeking to earn their high school equivalency diploma and acquire essential skills for the job market.

Day and Night Classes for Maximum Flexibility

Day classes are set to commence on Monday, October 23, while night courses will begin on either November 6 or November 7.

To help facilitate all that are interested in taking courses and increasing their education, Northeast will now hold night courses on Monday and Tuesday nights in Alcorn, Prentiss and Tishomingo counties while those taking courses in Tippah and Union counties will meet on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Day courses will meet in Booneville from Monday to Thursday, running from 8 a.m. until noon.

Night classes, on the other hand, will be offered in Corinth, Booneville and Tishomingo from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday nights. Classes in Ripley and New Albany will meet between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Northeast's Adult Education department provides an opportunity for students to take the General Education Diploma (GED) test or the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) exam. By successfully completing these tests, students can earn a high school equivalency diploma and acquire the skills necessary to thrive in today's fast-paced and ever-changing job market.

Northeast's Smart Start curriculum is a standout feature of the Adult Education program, offering students national certifications and valuable guidance on finding satisfying and well-paying careers. The curriculum focuses on equipping students with skills that employers are actively looking for, and all these benefits come at no cost to the students.

Northeast's Adult Education program provides a welcoming and supportive environment for adult learners to achieve their educational aspirations.

Whether individuals look to earn their HiSET or GED diploma, improve their employability prospects, or pursue higher education, the program is designed to cater to diverse goals.

Open to All Adult Learners

Northeast's Adult Education program is open to anyone aged 16 or older who is not currently enrolled in a public or private school and all classes are offered at no cost with all the necessary instructional materials provided. The program offers a variety of instructional methods, including individualized instruction, small-group learning, and computer-based learning, ensuring that each student's unique needs are met.
