NEMCC award-winning Adult Education opens doors to healthcare opportunities
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (08/13/2025) — For adults seeking a second chance at success, Northeast Mississippi Community College's award-winning Adult Education department is proving to be a life-changing resource.
Dedicated to empowering and elevating the citizens of the Magnolia State, the program helps students earn their High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) diploma while also preparing them for in-demand careers.
Geared especially toward single parents and adults over the age of 18, Northeast's Adult Education program is more than just a classroom experience -- it is a steppingstone toward a better future.
One of the standout components of the program is Mississippi Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (MIBEST), which is now enrolling students interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) or Certified Medical Administrative Assistants (CMAA).
As a workforce and economic development initiative, MIBEST is designed to help Mississippians move from the economic sidelines into sustainable, rewarding careers.
MIBEST blends HiSET preparation with career training, allowing students to work toward a diploma and an industry-recognized credential at the same time.
Tuition scholarships are available, eliminating one of the most common barriers for those eager to take the next step in their education and career.
