NEMCC receives over $2 million for workforce special projects
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (10/25/2022) — Governor Tate Reeves (l) and Ryan Miller (third from left), executive director of AccelerateMS, were in Booneville on October 18 to present Northeast Mississippi Community College with a $2,220,629.03 check for workforce special projects.
Northeast division of Workforce Training and Economic Development will use the funds for projects such as purchasing state-of-the-art equipment for its Production Technician and Fiber Optic programs, trucks and trailers for its Commercial Truck Driving program, creation of a smart manufacturing cell in a workforce lab on the Booneville campus and for instructor service time outside the classroom. The workforce and CTE divisions are working on future special projects with AccelerateMS, including CNC machining, welding, and online training for the industry.
NEMCC Workforce has partnerships with all the right organizations to create synergy and make solutions possible that may seem impossible.
The division regularly works with AccelerateMS, Northeast Mississippi Planning and Development District (NEMPDD), Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA), Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) and regional economic developers, North Mississippi Industrial Development (NMIDA), Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) and the Mississippi Partnership (TRPDD).

Northeast athletics can also boast that it is home to a new ultramodern baseball and softball facility and currently holds the record for largest video boards for both sports in the community college ranks in the state.
The Chronicle of Higher Education has designated the college as one of its 'Best Places to Work For,' and CollegeChoice.net has named Northeast a Top 25 Community and Junior College in the country while The Center for Digital Education has recognized Northeast as a Top 10 Digital Community College in the nation.
Campus Labs recently named Northeast as one of two educational institutions in the nation as a Campus Labs Trailblazer Award honoree. The Campus Labs Trailblazer Award is based on the college creating a culture of assessment on campus through Campus Labs Planning to increase institutional adoption, focus on continuous improvement, and closing the loop in the institutional assessment priorities.
