NEMCC's 2025 Jeffrey Powell Mobile Learning Conference schedules renowned speakers from across state, nation
Conference is set for June 9-10 and will be held virtually
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (05/30/2025) — Northeast Mississippi Community College is once again set to take the lead in educational innovation as it hosts the 2025 Jeffrey Powell Mobile Learning Conference, a two-day virtual event on June 9-10 that will feature some of the most respected voices in education and instructional technology from across the United States.
This year's conference, themed "Learning Without Limits," will include a powerhouse lineup of four keynote speakers, multiple concurrent sessions, and presenters from both national and local institutions.
With a registration fee of only $25, the conference offers exceptional value for educators seeking professional development in the latest educational technology and teaching strategies. Participants may also earn two (2) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for an additional $12.
Dr. Carlena Benjamin, Northeast's Instructional Technology Specialist, will once again serve as conference director while also presenting during the event.
Joining Benjamin from North Mississippi are Ashlee Martin of the Heartbeat Education Group in Booneville, Gina Bramlitt of Pontotoc Junior High School, Dr. Lorilyn Thompson of Blue Mountain Christian University, and Melissa Walker of Iuka Middle School - all adding a strong local presence to the conference.
From across Mississippi, additional speakers include Emily Sumrall of Biloxi Upper Elementary, Lisa Anglin of Holmes Community College, Alden Johnson from the Harrison County School District, and Haylee Lucas, Library Media Specialist from Lamar County School District.
Keynote presentations will bookend each day of the conference:
Monday, June 9 at 9 a.m. - Kelly Croy, Director of Innovation and Instruction at Port Clinton City Schools in Ohio, kicks off the event with his session, "Be Careful What You Label a Weakness."
Monday afternoon (1 p.m.) - Kristen Brooks, Instructional Support specialist from Cherokee County School District in Georgia, reconnects the audience with "Building Communities without Boundaries."
Tuesday, June 10 at 9 a.m. - Katie Fielding, Educational Technology Specialist at FieldingNotes, opens the day with "Be An $A11y: Creating Accessible Classrooms."
Tuesday afternoon (1 p.m.) - Dr. Kollin Napier, Director of the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN), concludes the keynote series with "MAIN & AI: Building the Future of Education and Workforce in Mississippi."
Other presenters include representatives from Apple, Kennesaw State University, University of Central Arkansas, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Red Bud High School (Illinois), CHSD 155 (Illinois), and more.
Hosted online to allow maximum accessibility and participation, the Jeffrey Powell Mobile Learning Conference is designed to connect educators nationwide through innovative learning experiences.Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge tools, gain insight from proven leaders in the field, and collaborate with peers from diverse educational backgrounds.
