Northeast Mississippi Community College earns Great Colleges to Work For designation
NEMCC also named to Great College to Work For honor roll, doubling recognition areas from 2023
BOONEVILLE, Miss. -- (09/20/2024) — ModernThink has recognized Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) as one of its 2024 Great Colleges to Work For.
In addition to Northeast being named as a 2024 Great College to Work For, the college also earned special designation on the organization's Honor Roll, distinguishing it as one of the top-performing two-year colleges in the nation.
"As President of Northeast Mississippi Community College, I am incredibly proud of our continued recognition as a Great College to Work For," said Northeast President Dr. Ricky G. Ford. "This achievement highlights our commitment to creating an exceptional working environment for our faculty and staff. Congratulations to the entire NEMCC community for this well-deserved honor."
Northeast's recognition in 2024 marks the second consecutive year that the college has made the Great Colleges to Work For Honor Roll and the fourth year that the Booneville-based college has been named to the Great Colleges to Work For program.
Northeast earned the Great Colleges to Work For status in 2018, 2020, 2023 before this year's award.
In 2023, Northeast was named to four categories on the Honor Roll but doubled its recognition area with eight categories in 2024.
Inclusion into the 2-year Honor Roll proves that Northeast is amongst the top community colleges in the nation.
To be considered for Honor Roll status in the two-year college ranks, an institution must be cited in the top four colleges/universities in its respective categories.
Northeast was in the top four in eight of the 10 categories that the Great Colleges to Work For program rates higher education institutions on.
For four-year colleges, Honor Roll status was given to the ten institutions in each size that were cited most often across all of the recognition categories.
Northeast excelled in the following 2024 Honor Roll categories:
- Compensation & Benefits
- Confidence in Senior Leadership
- Faculty Experience (Only Faculty and Adjunct Faculty Considered)
- Faculty & Staff Well-being
- Job Satisfaction & Support
- Mission & Pride
- Professional Development
- Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
In 2024, a total of 216 institutions participated in the Great Colleges to Work For program, consisting of 139 four-year institutions and 77 two-year institutions. Among those, 75 institutions received recognition as a Great College to Work For, with 53 being four-year institutions and 22 two-year institutions.
Additionally, 42 institutions earned Honor Roll status, highlighting exceptional performance within their respective size categories across the program's 10 recognition categories.
"I am thrilled that Northeast Mississippi Community College has excelled in multiple categories to earn Honor Roll status in the 2024 Great Colleges to Work For program," Ford said. "Our dedication to excellence in areas such as Compensation & Benefits, Faculty Experience, and Job Satisfaction & Support has placed us among the top institutions in both the two-year and four-year college rankings. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our faculty and staff, and I am incredibly proud of our employees and Northeast's achievements."
ModernThink's Great Colleges to Work For official list of recognized institutions was published in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education on September 20.
"There can be no doubt the stresses and challenges facing higher education today are collectively unprecedented," said Richard K. Boyer, Chief Culture Strategist at ModernThink. "But in this moment, in the 2024 Great Colleges to Work For awardees, we have examples of institutions that have navigated these tumultuous times holding true to their missions and values and never losing sight of the importance of their people."
