Five individuals graduated from the nineteenth (19th) Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Reserve Officer Law Enforcement Training Academy in early July. They were (front row l-r) Jennifer Kennedy, Kayli Willis, training officer Josh Fortenberry along with (back row l-r) Robert Carruthers, Paul Phillips and Tanner Wilmeth. Kennedy was sponsored by the Booneville Police Department while Willis was sponsored by the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department. Carruthers represented the Tupelo Public School District as Phillips was sponsored by the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department and Tanner Wilmeth. Wilmeth, who served as the platoon leader for the group, represented the Farmington Police Department.

Northeast Mississippi Community College police officer Jason Jackson instructs other Northeast police officers during a Taser training seminar on May 17 in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union. Jackson has been chosen to be William Anthony Anderson’s permanent replacement as chief of campus police at the college. Interim chief of campus police Melissa Pearson has decided to pursue other personal interests and return to her role as assistant chief of campus police. Jackson becomes just the sixth person to lead the department since its incorporation in the early 2000s.
