Northeast Mississippi Community College celebrated the twenty-first (21st) graduating class of the college's Reserve Officer Law Enforcement Training Academy on Sunday, July 27 in Holliday Hall on the college's Booneville campus. Graduates of the twenty-first class have to be sponsored by various local law enforcement agencies, underscoring the academy's integral role in preparing officers for diverse roles within the community. Graduates included Charles D. Archie, sponsored by the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department; Rickey Barber, sponsored by the Booneville Police Department; Darrell B. Duncan, sponsored by the Alcorn County Sheriff's Department; Devin Harnage, sponsored by the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department; Caleb Waddle, sponsored by the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department and Ronny Walker, sponsored by the Farmington Police Department. Duncan also served as the Platoon Leader for the class, demonstrating leadership and commitment.

Northeast Mississippi Community College officially dedicated the Don Lee Keith Reading Room & Conference Center in the Eula Dees Memorial Library on Tuesday, August 12. Northeast’s newest facility – made possible by a $115,000 gift from the estate of the late Teresa A. Neaves – provides a dedicated space for studying, collaboration and idea exchange for students and employees. Northeast’s ribbon-cutting ceremony honored both the legacy of award-winning journalist and Northeast alumnus Don Lee Keith and Neaves’ generosity. Designed as both a cozy reading nook and a modern meeting area, the reading room and conference center along with the area around the room reflects Northeast’s commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and innovation.

Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Practical Nursing Education program celebrated 36 graduates during its annual Candle Lighting and Pledge Ceremony on Monday, July 28, in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union on the Booneville campus. All 36 students completed the program's rigorous coursework and clinical hours, were pinned and are now eligible to sit for their licensure exams. Representing a broad swath of northeast Mississippi -- including Aberdeen, Bruce, Ashland, and all five counties within the college’s service district of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Union -- graduates are now poised to fill a critical gap in the region’s healthcare workforce.
