NEMCC acknowledged the accomplishments and achievements of its employees and students during the college’s annual Honors Day ceremony on Monday, April 17. During the 2023 Honors Day ceremony, Northeast’s vice president of institutional advancement and the executive director of the Northeast Development Foundation and Alumni Association Patrick Eaton announced that Austin Beasley and Tabitha McKay had been honored with the college’s TIP award while Sallye Bowlin, Bryan Mitchell, Marianne Lancaster, Dr. George Nock, Lorie Mattox and Jonathan Shaw were each selected as the college’s TOP honorees. On hand for the Honors Day ceremony were (from left) Eaton, precision manufacturing technology instructor Jonathan Shaw, physics instructor Dr. George Nock, accounting and business instructor Sallye Bowlin, former Northeast educational systems specialist but now the college’s Director of Institutional Research Tabitha McKay and Northeast president Dr. Ricky G. Ford.

Northeast Mississippi Community College institutional technology specialist Jeffrey Powell, a native of Tishomingo, was instrumental in making the Northeast one of the top digital colleges in the country and helping the college earn its recognition as an Apple Distinguished School. Powell passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo at the age of 44.
